MegaBounce version 1.22
On Line Help!!
Thanks for trying out Mega Bounce.
To make the game even better,
Here are some useful facts that
you may really want to know.
OBJECT OF THE GAME!!
Very important concept. The screen
is filled with layers of designer
bricks, your paddle, and a bunch of
white bouncing things. (Hence the
name MegaBounce). If the white
things hit your paddle, they
bounce off. If they hit a brick,
the brick is destroyed. Easy.
Obvious. Fun.
OBJECTS OF IMPORTANCE!
^P --- Your Paddle. The tiny
red blobs on the top are cannons.
Press button1 and each one will
fire. Certain pills can change
the layout of the cannons to get
some really tense shooting.
PILLS:
There are pills in the bricks
which are essentially "power-ups".
The glowing box around these pills
is a sheild which reflects your
shots. If you hit the pill with a
ball, the sheild will break, the
pill will fall, and if you catch
the pill, you'll be happy.
Pill: Function:
----------------------------------
^5 ^7 ^8 -Points Gallore. 1000,2000,
or 4000.
^2 -Puts an extra ball into
Play.
^1 -Increases paddle size
^3 -Gives you 6 more shots
^4 -Enhances cannon setup
^6 -Mystic pill. Get it,
and find out!
CONTROL!
Mega Bounce can be controlled by
1. Joystick 1
2. Joystick 2
3. Mouse
4. Keyboard
For the joysticks, you are given
the option of 'Joystick' or
'Gamepad'. It matters which you
choose. Honest. Gamepad control
moves your paddle left and
right depending on the handle.
Joystick jumps your paddle to
where the handle is. In both
cases; button 1 will fire. Button2
will speed up your paddle while it
is pressed.
Keyboard control is like 'Gamepad'
control. Use the left and right
'ALT' keys. Pressing 'CTRL' speeds
up your paddle's speed. Either
'SHIFT' will fire.
Mouse control is similiar to
'Joystick' control, and this is
what I strongly recomend because
it offers the best control. If a
mouse is present, it is also
default. Use button 1 to fire.
Button 2 has no function.
GAME NOTES:
When you clear away a bottom row
the bricks scroll down, and a new
row is placed at the top. (It is
similiar to Tetris in that aspect)
As you get to higher levels, new
colorful bricks will replace the
old, dull gray ones you've seen
forever in level 1.
A ^6 (Mystic pill) will fall
depending on your score. Get it,
and something neat will happen.
Resist the temptation to shoot
the balls with your cannon. If a
ball is hit, it goes limp,and will
fall down very quickly. The shot
will also fly off randomly.
At certain levels, an enemy
paddle will come onto the screen
and try to stop you. "How do I
Stop it?" you ask. Easy. The same
methods that kill you will work on
it. That's all I'm saying.
LEVELS:
Your level is displayed at the
top of the screen in blue with
two numbers. The number on the
left is your current board. The
number on the right tells you how
many rows have been cleared. When
the whole board has been cleared,
you advance to the next board.
When you clear all of the
boards, rather then force you to
end your joyful playing session,
you just restart.
SAVING YOUR PROGRESS:
Your highes level reached and
your most recent level played are
saved automatically and can be
reaced through the menu under
Options-Game. Only your level
is saved, not your cannon setup,
shots, size ,etc.
WAYS TO DIE:
There are really only two ways to
ensure an quick and easy death.
The first is to let all of the
balls fall off the bottom of the
screen. Way number two happens
when your paddle becomes too
small. Your paddle shrinks when
it is hit by a shot coming at you.
HINTS:
-The enemy paddle is armed with
very powerful cannons that may
help with clearing boards quickly.
-Bouncing the ball off your
cannons will send it off in a
random direction.
-Balls start off slow and become
faster as you clear rows.
-Certain pills react to being
shot at.
-Your actions control the effect
off a mystic pill.
-If I included a mystic pill in
a board, there's a good reason.
-Your cannon setup and size
won't reset if you lose a life.
-Play the game. It's really fun.
COOL STUFF:
This game is freeware, no fees,
registration, or fancy stuff like
it. Feel free to give a copy to
anyone you choose. Any questions,
comments, suggestions, or ideas
would be appreciated. If you like
MegaBounce and find that 30 levels
aren't enough, just let me know.
If enough people are interested,
I'll churn out another batch.

TECHNICAL STUFF:
To run MegaBounce, you will need
these files:
BOUNCE.EXE - Run This
LEVEL.DAT - 30 Cool levels
BOUNCE.GRF - ????
PALETTE2.DAT - ????
MegaBounce creates a file called
BOUNCE.DAT to store highscores,
and your highest and most recent
levels. If you are running this
off a cd-rom, you should copy it
to writable-media (a hard drive),
else your highscores and high
levels won't be saved.
MegaBounce has a few command line
options that may prove useful.
/s - Turns sound off.
(Default is on)
/Cd path - Skips pathname input,
and uses path. This
option must be last,
and you must give a
full pathname.
/t - Skips title screen.
/? - Starts game up with
with this Online help
Note: If the /t and /Cd are used,
MegaBounce will begin right at
game play. Also, /cd is not needed
if your current directory contains
all of the MegaBounce files.
LEGAL STUFF:
As mentioned previously, this is
freeware. Therefore, no money may
be involved in the transaction of
this software, and it may not be
sold without consent from the
Author (that's me).
This is a safe product, but
I still assume no liability for
its operation.
I also ask that this program
and the files that came with it
are not altered in any way.
